Frequently Asked Questions

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin identifying what you’d like to work on in therapy. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, relevant parts of your history, your current concerns, and your goals for treatment. I’ll also answer any questions you have about the therapy process and we’ll begin discussing what approach may be most helpful for you.

Therapy with me is collaborative, supportive, and active. While having a space to feel heard and understood is important, I also believe therapy should help you better understand yourself, recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop tools to create meaningful change.
Depending on your needs and goals, our work may incorporate approaches such as EMDR, CBT, ACT, and interpersonal therapy. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, so we’ll work together to determine what is most helpful for you.

Most clients begin therapy with weekly sessions, which allows us to build consistency and momentum in our work together. As you make progress and your needs change, we may discuss transitioning to less frequent sessions.
The frequency of therapy can vary depending on your goals, symptoms, and individual circumstances, and we’ll discuss what makes the most sense for you.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process distressing experiences, memories, and beliefs that may continue to affect how you feel and respond in the present.
EMDR is often associated with PTSD and major traumatic experiences, but it can also be helpful for other experiences that have left you feeling stuck in painful patterns or beliefs.
Learn more about EMDR on this page.

If you have an insurance plan with out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Coverage and reimbursement vary by plan, so I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to confirm your out-of-network benefits.
